Resource: The immative inflorescence of Buddleja officinalis Maxim.,family Loganiaceae.
Characteristic: Inflorescence irregularly conical,composed of numerous buds;1.5-3.0 cm long,grey-yellow,densely pubescent.Buds short-clavate,slightly enlarged at the upper end,soft in texture.Aromatic in odour.Sweet in taste,slightly clod in nature,and attributive to liver channel.
Pharmacodynamics: Clear away liver-fire and nourish the liver,remove nebula to improve the visual acuity:For liver-heat syndrome with redness,swelling and pain of the eye,photophobia and lacrimation,used together with Spica Prunellae,Herba Equiseti Hiemalis,etc.;for patient with hypofunction of liver,used together with Radix Paeoniae Alba,Fructus Ligustri Lycidi,Concha Margaritifera Usta,etc.;for blurring of vision due to hypofunction of liver,used together with Fructus Lycii,Semen Cuscutae,etc.;for nebula,used together with Concha Margaritifera Usta,Periostracum Cicadae,etc.
Pharmacological: One of its active components,acacetin,has similar effect as that of vitamin P.
Usage: Decoction:3-9g.
