Characteristic: The caryopsis appearing as flat-elliptical 3-6 cm long and 2-3 mm broad,Surface enveloped by yellow coat with longitudinal striae.Light in wieght,floating on the water.Sweet and salty in taste,cool in nature,and attributive to heart channel.
Pharmacodynamics: 1.Stop sweating:For spontaneous perspiration and night sweat,fried before decocting or used together with other drugs;for spontaneous perspiration due to deficiency of vital energy,used together with Radix Astragale seu Hedysari and Rhizoma Atractylodis Macrocephalae; for night sweat due to yin-deficiency,used with Cortex Lycii Radicistogether.
Pharmacological: 2.Nourish the heart and tranquilize the mind:For insufficiency of heartblood manifested as hysteria,absent-mindedness,palpitation,insomnia and dreaminess,usually used together with Radix Glycyrrhizae and Fructus Ziziphi Jujubae(Decoction of Glycyrrhizae,Tritici Levis and Ziziphi Jujubae).
Usage: Antisudorific.

Decoction:9-30g.
