Resource: Seed of Juglans regia L.,family Juglandaceae.
Characteristic: Seed spherical,with numerous irregular grooves,2-3 cm in diameter.Spermoderm yellow-brown,membranous,with branched vascular bundle marks.Cotyledon located beneath the spermoderm,yellowwhite and oleaginous.Prepared as irregular pieces.Sweet in taste,warm in nature,and attributive to lung,kidney and large intestine channels.
Pharmacodynamics:

1.Invigorate kidney-yang and strengthen the waist and knees:For deficiency of kidney-yang with soreness and weakness of the waist and knees,frequent micturition and enuresis.

2.Invigorate the lung and relieve dyspnea:For lung-deficiency or deficiency of the lung and kidney with dyspneic cough.

3.Moisturize the intestine and relax bowels:For constipation due to dryness of the intestine and consumption of body fluid.Inaddition,also used for urinary calculus.Its paste or oil preparations be applied topically for dermatitis and eczema.
Pharmacological: It contains about 50% of fatty oil,exerting antitussive effect.
Usage: Decoction:10-30g;30-100g fried with sesame oil and taken with 30g of sugar in two to three divided doses daily.
